Does Liberty Financial Limited have a Crown guarantee?

No, Liberty Financial Limited is excluded from the Crown retail deposit guarantee scheme.

What does "first ranking" mean?

All Secured Deposits issued by Liberty Financial Limited rank equally and are secured by a first ranking security interest over all personal property and a first ranking charge over all other assets of the company. Secured Deposits will also rank equally with all other outstanding secured deposits and other debenture stock previously or subsequently issued.

In the event of default investors claims rank ahead of all shareholders, unsecured loans and unsecured creditors. There could be claims which have preference by law over the Secured Deposits.

Who is the Trustee and what is their role?

A specialist independant trustee company called Covenant Trustee Company Limited is the trustee and their duties are to hold the security created under the Trust Deed on behalf of the Stock Holders, to receive and consider regular financial reports provided by the company and if necessary enforce the Trust Deed on behalf of Stock Holders. Liberty Financial Limited and the auditor must provide certain financial and other information to the trustee to facilitate the carrying out of the trustee’s duties. The trustee is also bound to carry out duties as prescribed by government regulation.

Who owns Liberty Financial Limited?

Liberty Financial is wholly owned by Liberty Financial Pty Ltd. Liberty Financial Pty is a leading Australasian independent finance company. Its businesses include residential and commercial mortgages, motor vehicle, dealer floorplan, debtor and equipment finance and investments in Australia and New Zealand.

Where is my money invested?

Our focus is to provide finance to businesses, to enable them to purchase capital assets, such as transport equipment, vehicles, plant and machinery, and to provide short term first-ranking mortgage lending on residential property.

It is our policy not to finance construction or property development projects, nor to provide finance for consumer goods, or grant loans to related parties of Liberty Financial Limited.

What is the minimum investment?

The minimum investment amount is $5,000.

What are the current investment terms and rates?

Investment terms currently range from 3 months to 60 months.

How will my interest be paid?

Liberty Financial Limited offers you a choice as to how you may receive your interest to suit your specific needs:

  • Paid Quarterly
    Interest is paid each quarter by direct credit to your nominated bank account. This enables you to receive a regular income from your investment. Net interest (being gross interest less any withholding tax or approved issuer levy) is paid on the last day of March, June, September and December. If the last day of the month is not a business day, then payment will be made on the next business day.
  • Compounded Quarterly
    You can choose to grow your investment by having your net interest compounded and added to your investment. Compounded interest will be added on the last day of March, June, September and December each year.
How will you keep me informed about my investment?

We will send you statements quarterly allowing you to track the status of your investment(s). You can also contact our Investments Team on (09) 375 0700 on Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm if you have any questions about your investment(s).

How do I request a prospectus and an investment statement?

You can download a copy of the current Prospectus and the current Investment Statement here. If you would like us to send you a printed copy by post, you can request this by emailing us your address details at info@libfin.co.nz or by contacting our Investments Team on (09) 375 0700 on Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm.

Are Secured Deposits guaranteed?

Liberty Financial Pty Ltd, the parent company of Liberty Financial Limited, provides a guarantee in respect of Secured Deposits issued by Liberty Financial Limited. This guarantee, which is irrevocable, may be called upon in the event that Liberty Financial Limited is unable to pay principal or interest to holders of Secured Deposits for whatever reason. This guarantee is unsecured and unlimited in amount.

Your investment in Secured Deposits issued by Liberty Financial Limited is excluded from the Crown retail deposit guarantee scheme.
